Our goal is to expand our line to include more modern styles while
maintaining our commitment to hand crafting furniture using quality materials,
deep hand-rubbed finishes and superior construction techniques. It is important
to note that Treharn Today pieces are constructed utilizing the same traditional
joinery methods as Treharn Classic pieces, but we elected to use
non-hardwoods on backboards and drawer bottoms. Treharn Today pieces can be
customized by size, wood, detail and finish to fit into any home.
Customizing Details:
- Table Size and Configuration - Choose Rectangular, Round, Square, with, or
without one or two leaves.
- Wood - Cherry or Tiger Maple. Chairs are Cherry, Tiger Maple, or Maple.
- Edge Profile - Table top edges can be either of two types: hand eased or
hand planed.
- Table Tops - Can be either a solid top in which individual boards are
glued together without visible seams (solid top), or a planked top in which
individual boards are affixed with a spline joint, secured with a wood peg;
the seams of the individual joints are visible.
- Distressing - Refers to random dings, scratches and marks added to the
wood before a finish is applied. Choose no distressing, light, or moderate
levels.
- Top Texture - Refers to the feels of the woods. We offer smooth, scraped,
or hand planed.
- Heritage Finish - An upgraded finish where a Glaze is applied over the
stain. The Glaze ages the finish and adheres to the distressed areas to
accentuate them.
- Table Leg Style - Five styles to choose from including Tapered, Square,
French, Farmhouse, and Sheraton.
- Table Apron Style - Four styles include Straight, Straight with Bead,
French, and Mission.
- Table Base Finish - Stained or painted.
The top coat of Treharn Today finish is a lacquer with a wax coating. This
finish is much easier to repair than our traditional lacquer finish. A Glaze can
be rubbed in defects and then waxed over to match the rest of the table.
